By Office for International Students and Scholars (OISS)
In light of recent developments reported at universities across the country, Loyola Marymount University reaffirms its commitment to supporting our international students and scholars. Reports indicate that a growing number of students nationwide have experienced unexpected changes to or revocations of their immigration status by federal authorities.
While we do not have information regarding the specific rationale used by federal agencies, LMU’s Office for International Students and Scholars (OISS) is continuing to monitor all F-1 and J-1 student records through daily audits of the Student and Exchange Visitor Information System (SEVIS) to support our students and scholars and ensure compliance with federal regulations. OISS is also coordinating a comprehensive response in the event of any student or scholar status changes.
The university continues to observe all applicable federal and state laws, including the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA), and is committed to protecting student information and privacy.
LMU is offering students:
- One-on-one student support and advising
- Collaborating with families to help inform transition planning
- Assistance with travel and housing transitions, if needed
- Access to mental health care and academic support resources
- Coordination with campus partners, legal resources, and government sponsors.
We recognize the uncertainty and anxiety international students may be experiencing and want to assure our community that LMU is here to help. OISS is available to provide up-to-date guidance, personalized support, and relevant information as the national landscape changes.
